Inset electric fires designed for media wall installations. Slim depth, landscape proportions and realistic LED flame effects make these ideal for built in feature walls with a television above. No flue and no gas connection required, just a standard 13A socket.
What is a media wall fire?
A media wall fire is an electric fire built into a stud or feature wall, usually below a wall mounted television and often surrounded by panelling, shelving or storage. Because it runs on electricity there is no flue, no chimney and no gas supply to plan for, which makes it one of the simplest premium upgrades you can add to a living room. The result is a clean, modern focal point with the warmth and movement of flames on demand.
How to choose the right media wall electric fire
Size and width
Media wall fires are measured by width. As a guide, a 1000mm to 1250mm fire suits most standard chimney breasts and smaller walls, 1500mm to 1800mm works well under a large television, and 2000mm and above creates a real statement in open plan spaces. Always plan the aperture, the opening in the wall, around the fire dimensions listed on each product page.
Viewing sides
Front facing fires sit flush in a single wall. Two sided and three sided models are made to be seen from more than one angle, which is ideal for a fire that divides a room or sits on the corner of a media wall. Choose the number of sides to match where people will view it from.
Depth and your wall build
Every fire has a set depth, so check it against how far your media wall will be built out from the original wall. Slim depth models make it easier to keep the build neat and the television close to the wall.
Heat and running cost
Most media wall electric fires include a thermostatic heater of around 2kW, enough to warm a typical living room, plus a flame only setting so you can enjoy the effect in warmer months with very little running cost. As a rough guide, UK electricity is around 25p per kWh, so the flame only mode costs just pennies per hour.
Flame effect and control
Modern LED and water vapour systems produce a strikingly realistic flame, often with adjustable colour, brightness and a choice of fuel bed such as logs or crystals. Almost all models include a remote control, and many can be operated by app or voice assistant.

Media wall fire questions
Do media wall fires give out heat? Yes. Most include a thermostatic heater of around 2kW, and you can run the flame effect on its own without heat whenever you prefer.
Can I put a television above a media wall fire? Yes, these fires are designed for it. The heat vents forward or upward and away from the screen, but always follow the clearance guidance for your chosen model.
Do I need a flue or gas supply? No. Every fire here is electric, so there is no flue, no chimney and no gas. You only need a standard 13A socket.
What size media wall fire do I need? Match the width to your wall and television. As a starting point, pick a fire a little wider than the television above it for a balanced look, then plan the aperture from the dimensions on the product page.
Are they hard to install? The fire itself is straightforward as it plugs into a socket. The media wall framing and the socket should be fitted by a competent tradesperson.
